Mercerised fine sashiko thread, also suitable for big-stitch quilting and even fine crochet work.
For sashiko, can be used single or doubled for a range of effects.
To open your thread: Take the thread out of the packet and have a feel of it, there is a knot around the thread in one place. Open the skein out with the knotted bit in one hand, until the thread forms a large loop. Do not cut until you are at this stage! When you have the large loop, cut through all the threads at the knot. The threads are all cut into the right length now. To save it tangling, you can plait it loosely and pull individual threads out, or thread the whole skein back through the paper band so you can see at a glance which colour you need.
