- Sashiko Threads
There are many different types of sashiko thread made in Japan nowadays, there is no 'right' or 'wrong' thread to use from the ones on this page! If you want a thicker look you can use the thread doubled, although single is fine for most projects and samplers
Medium Threads are 6-strand threads which are a good all-rounder. The same company produce a range of 3-strand 'fine' threads to complement this for detailed work.
MOCO Threads are 100% polyester, so are stronger than cotton but have the same fluffy effect when used for sashiko stitching. These come in a huge range of colours and are on a handy 10m card for when you only need a small amount of thread.
Daruma (Yokota) are a 4-strand equivalent, and are versatile enough to use in any piece, whether straight lines of stitching or intricate details.
Basically it's up to you, and with so many beautiful colours to chose from, you'll soon build up quite a collection!
