'Tanabata' (Star Festival) Sashiko Thread Collection
A specially curated collection of 5 'Daruma' brand sashiko threads.
Each card has 40m of thread, and this set includes a saving compared to purchasing the threads individually.
This collection evokes the 'tanabata' festival which dates back to 755 in Japan and is held each year in summer. Traditonally, people write a wish in the form of a poem on small, colourful pieces of paper which are then tied to bamboo branches. During tanabata you can see streets and shopping centres decorated with large, colourful streamers and there are many local events such as festivals, including food stalls, games and parades. People often dress in 'yukata' (simple cotton kimono) to enjoy the atmosphere.
