'Tsubaki' (Camellia Bloom) Sashiko Thread Collection
A specially curated collection of 5 'Daruma' brand sashiko threads.
Each card has 40m of thread, and this set includes a saving compared to purchasing the threads individually.
This collection evokes the camellia, which has both a sweet and a rather grisly meaning in Japanese culture! The colour can symbolise love and divinity, and the flower is often used in spiritual ceremonies. The camellia was also popular among the samurai because of the way the red flower drops suddenly from its stem - this reminded them of a head being cut off cleanly; a noble death!!! Maybe we should go with the 'love' symbolism in our sashiko stitching...
